  • Tick Tock

I don't want to spend my last remaining days in the United Kingdom arguing or getting upset over petty little things that are not worth going on about because you know at the end of the day, everything is going to be okay. So, why don't we just kiss and make up. I want to spend my last few moments being happy, meeting the faces of those that I will never see on a weekly basis anymore and roaming around the cobble-stoned streets of Bristol with you.

    It's time to grow up.
Little childish gestures are amusing in tiny spoonfuls. But, there's a limit to everything.

    Boy, do I hate PMS-ing.
I feel miserable, vulnerable and emotional. I feel easily irritated and at times, angry at myself for not being able to control my temper. If you only could understand what I have to go through every month and not toil around with the fire so sensitively, then would we be so much happier.

I'm trying hard to put on a happy facade.
But, I'm caving in and it is starting to hurt.

  • Holy Shit!

I think I just got scammed (again)! OMG, it has happened twice this year. The first time was in Hamburg, Germany in the Godforsaken red-light district and now in the United Kingdom. Oh, and I still remember the time I was cheated right under my very nose in my very own country too by a freaking taxi driver who overcharged me. What is the world coming to?

I am extremely crossed and have asked HSBC bank to raise a dispute for a fraudulent transaction - the following fake recruitment agency, Career Direct UK, debited my account with a total of GBP74.00 for services that I never paid for and when I tried to contact them through e-mail on several occasions, which I found on their website, they never got back to me through e-mail or phone. And when I call, their number is always engaged and the recruitment consultant is always busy even up to 12AM because it still goes straight to their voicemail. What adds to my frustration is that I cannot even leave a message on their voicemail because their mailbox is "apparently" full.

This is codswollop! I need to contact the authorities regarding this issue of fraud. Apparently it's a very common form of fraud and I can't believe that I, Chien Mi Wong, am a victim of such a malicious act...me, a harmless jobseeker, a pawn of their horrid game. I shall not let this lay to rest. You're sooooo going down!

  • Roadtrip

Sorry for the delay in this long-awaited entry. Had meant to update this aeons ago. I finally managed to overcome laziness. So, here are some pictures of the one day road-trip we ventured on in Lanzarote, from down south, where we were located, all the way up north and back again! Driving on the other side of the road needed a little adjusting to. There were a few occasions where we turned into the wrong lane or drove on the wrong side, BUT thank goodness the roads were relatively empty. Carl's "manual-car" driving improved immensely despite stalling for a few times. HAHA.

    I miss my holiday.

Our rented car, the SEAT IBIZA, which we rented for €70 for four days - what a bargain, really!

    Our first destination: La Geria.
Visitors can sample and buy the wines, and learn about their unusual history at a wine museum.

Sampling the wine at 11am. :) This is really THE life. Each glass costs €1.

At another vineyard in La Geria, which specializes in El Grifo wine. Costs us €12 in total to visit the museum and sample six different kind of wines accompanied with french cheese and toasted bread, whilst basking in the sunshine. *yum*

They are renown for their sweet white wine, which I bought a bottle for my parents to savour. (: Hmm, that reminds me, they haven't even opened that bottle of Sandeman's Port, which I bought from Portugal.

The grounds of La Geria are characterized by the cultivation of vines dug into a pit in the volcanic ash at a depth of 3 meters and a diameter of 8 meters. The Malvasia grape vines grow in widely spaced depressions in the black earth, each vine enclosed by a semi-circle of stone wall.

    Another La Bodega.

Lanzarote is the easternmost island of the Canary Islands and has volcanic origin. It was born out of fiery eruptions and has solidified lava streams as well as extravagant rock formations.

The sand dunes in Playa de Famara. Also a great destination for surfers.

South of the Famara massif is the El Jable desert which separates Famara and Montañas del Fuego.

A favourite shot of Carl. (:

Next, Teguise or La Villa as its known locally, was the capital of Lanzarote before it moved to Arrecife in the mid 18th century. Loving the church, Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe which dates back to 1428.

PALACIO DEL MARQUÉS - the oldest house in Lanzarote, completed in 1455, where we dined for lunch. If you’re a wine connoisseur or want to know more about the local history, you should pop in and say hello, Jürgen is a great host and the central courtyard has a wonderful ambience.

The Patio del Vino offers a vast range of wines from around the world with tapas.

Numerous miradors (viewpoints) on this high ground offer some of the island's most spectacular views.

    Cornfields!

    Desert flowers.

Mirador del Río is a viewpoint situated on an approximately 475 meters high escarpment called Batería del Río in the very north of the Canarian island of Lanzarote. Mirador der Río provides a stunning view over the strait of "Río" (naming the viewpoint) towards the archaic island of La Graciosa.

Cueva de los Verdes (in Spanish it means "Greens' cave", because in the past its owners were the "Verdes" family) is a lava tube located in the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. The cave was created around 3,000 years ago from a volcanic eruption in La Corona.

El Golfo. In its interior, in the centre of the crater, has emerged La Laguna de los Ciclos, a lake of the most intense green.

La Montaña de El Golfo, eroded by time and a black sand beach. (:

Los Hervideros is the name by which the coast is known at the point where the waves violently strike the pathways formed by the lava floes.

Las Salinas del Janubio is a place of scientific interest where not only the fauna is protected, but also the traditional method of extracting salt from the seawater.

  • R.I.P.

We have just witnessed the tragic passing of a legend.
    Goodbye, Michael Jackson.

It's funny how everyone's statuses on facebook are mostly regarding the death of M.J. and during the Champions League, most of the blokes' statuses were regarding Manchester United's unexpected loss. Facebook is definitely the gossip portal, in this case, it could be a news hub as well.

    Update (03/07/09):

In loving memory of Michael Jackson, Leicester Square, London.

We will miss you and your music dearly. x

  • Sunkissed* in Spain

As previously mentioned, my summer holidays are spent on the lovely volcanic island of Lanzarote with the boyfriend and have snapped over 200 lovely images. However, it's definitely impossible to upload all my lovely snapshots on this blog and hence, I shall provide you readers with links to my facebook albums. In addition to that, I shall highlight some of my favourite attractions and activities of the island.

As I smile with glee, I personally feel that it was a fantastic holiday overall and never have I been so tanned in my life! This doesn't even beat my holiday to Pulau Redang in Malaysia the last time. That SPF30 sunblock lotion prove to provide me with a better tan than the SPF8 tanning oil, which, from previous experiences, made me burn harshly and peel painfully.

Jetting off to Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands on Thomas Cook airlines, Which is definitely much better than Ryanair or Easyjet as there is some form of entertainment.

    Playa Dorada.

    The perfect family holiday.

Our four-star hotel, Club Playa Blanca.
After reading some negative views on some travel review sites, I was a little apprehensive. Several complaints regarding the food served and the conditions of the bungalows put me off a little. But for the price we paid, we can't really complain and really, it wasn't as bad! We loved every single moment of it and basked in the comfort of having an "all-inclusive" deal despite the fact that the food had very little day-to-day variation.

Left: The view of the sun by our poolside.
Right: A typical house in Lanzarote...the government only allows white buildings, accompanied with green, brown or blue window panes, sills and door panels in order to preserve Lanzarote's natural beauty.

    Playa Blanca.

    Marina Rubicon.

The craft market at Marina Rubicon, only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The beach in Arecife, where the airport is located.

Back at Playa Blanca, we found this mysterious light house in the middle of nowhere.

    Taking in the picturesque view.

    Puerto del Carmen's main beach.

The boyfriend and I seized the opportunity to do some extreme water sports at Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen like para-sailing (15 minutes), jet-skiing (20 minutes) and banana boat (10 minutes). A double package that consists of these three sports costs €110, which to be honest is a bargain because if you were to do these sports individually, it'll costs a lot more.

Anyway, there's more to come - our roadtrip around Lanzarote, when we rented a car for four days for merely €70, inclusive of insurance! Ta, for now!

About Me

I am loyal, a hopeless romantic and at times intransigent, unpredictable, changeable and forward-thinking, and when I am behaving apparently contrarily and inconsistently, it is because it is a method to my madness.

I enjoy the company of others and will rarely turn down an invitation to a good party or pass up an opportunity to join in some lighthearted amusement. I have an enthusiastic appreciation of music and art and can be a rather accomplished artisan in my own right, particularly when I bring my own brand of uniquely original creativity to what I am doing.
